I just got a pair of JBL L46s!

They are 8 inch (white woofer) 2 way systems with titanium dome tweeters. Though they are listed in the 1982 catalogue, they have the soul and construction quality of the companys best seventies output. This pair is without grills, and the cabinets need a lot of attention. Playing as I write this, driven by my Marantz 2270, I couldn't be happier.

Lloyd, the old speaker cabs (dittons, missions, kefs or your current jbl's) are incredible (weight & workmanship) & hold-up under a fair amount of abuse.

Having said that, sometimes the 20+ years & some abuse takes its toll on that stuff - then great work needed to restore them (not just caps but detailed woodwork - I've pulled in a carpenter friend for those tasks).

Still, the effort is worth it (in my limited experience) as the sound quality can't be touched @ its price point (my frugal Scottish genes?) AND besides, its good to keep them out of the landfill !

Thanks for all the posts - always a good read

take care
