The SONY TA-1055, a jewel!

This 20 watt/channel DC integrated amp sounds rich, powerful and really musical. I think it sounds better than an NAD 3020, in a quick comparison. Very revealing of bad source material, it shines with good recordings.
I found this unit and opened it up. It uses a heavy transformer for it's power and beautifully made circuit boards with point to point wiring. It runs hot, and has a very cool (looking) heat sink that is exposed at the back.
Made in Japan from 1973-1975 this was one of Sony's best pieces, exported to impress and open up the north american market.
I am really enjoying the music with this amp!

Hey, I've found this old SONY amplifier at my granny's house. I thought it is broken, but it work! And I can't belive that it is so old type. I think it has better sound quality, than our new HIFI sound system...

I would never throw it away...

Have a nice day ;-)

Amazing, I'm just listening to music from one of these :) My dad bought it when he was young, and I'm still enjoying its great quality. yes, it gets really hot if you're listening longer than 10h - but it looks and sounds way better than what you can buy these days for some cheap $$$

I have this amp hooked up to my Marantz 6300, but am wondering what kind of speakers I should get. I'm pretty new at this audiophile thing and am a bit lost. I don't have a lot of money to blow but am wondering if anybody has any good suggestions.

thanks

Adam

I purchased one of these units at a local thrift store for cheap. This is one of the best low power amps I have ever heard. The sound is very open and musical. Great for bedrooms or a room with good acoustics. This amp will get way loud if you have a good set of speakers hooked to it.

I bought this amp for only 20 euro's. Together with the sony tuner st5055l, a superscope tapedeck and a dual 1010s. The tuner needs some work, i think i fuse is blown. The dual doesn't really work as does the tapedeck. But the amp is just wonderfull. It looks like new when you open it up. really clean and as new. I just had to slide the switches a few times to get rid of the scratching sound. Maybe clean the switches later this week. But for now I'm a happy girl.

found one at a second hand shop, they tested it and cost me only 25 euro's. The amplifier is in excellent state and what a warm sound comes out of it! I am in love!

I've got it not in good condition, Some scratch at the cover.
But the sound is great, better than my other collection, such as Technics SU-8600, Sansui AU-217, Sansui A-80 & the other.
Its really powerfull in it class.

I'm almost 79, and bought one in '79. Picked up a matching mate. I would like to find a loving home for each. Anyone have an idea as to value?
