I thought that removing the tops might be difficult, but they are mounted in place with speaker grill hardware. The grill is a bag that ties at the top, beneath the walnut plate. The drivers are as well made and in as good condition as I'd hoped. I have refinished the top plates and they are beautiful.None of the above would matter much if the speakers didn't sound good. The more I listen, the more I like them.
